Steph Houghton to become manager of Manchester City Women
Former England captain and Manchester City defender Steph Houghton will become the new manager of Manchester City Women, the club have announced.
Houghton, who has captained City since 2015, will take over from Gareth Taylor, who left the club at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has made over 250 appearances for City and has won four FA Cups, three League Cups and two WSL titles with the club.
She has also represented England 121 times and was part of the squad that won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup and the silver medal at the 2022 European Championship.
Houghton said she was "honoured and humbled" to be appointed manager of Manchester City Women.
"This is a club that I have so much love and respect for, and I am so excited to start this new chapter in my career," she said.
"I would like to thank Gareth Taylor and the coaching staff for everything they have done during their time at the club, and I wish them all the best for the future.
"I am looking forward to working with the players and staff to continue the success of this team. We have a great squad with a lot of talent, and I am confident that we can achieve great things together.
"I would also like to thank the fans for their incredible support. You are the best fans in the world, and I can't wait to see you all at the Academy Stadium next season."
